As in many of her artworks, Jorinde Voigt captures in “Studie zur Aufmerksamkeit I” (Attention study I) the intangible in an abstract, almost scientific manner. What appears as a delicate drawing, depicts the movements in an interpersonal relationship, as we follow along the red timeline surrounded by arrows pointing towards and away from each other. In the midst of this time-based diagram, the arrows referring to the attention of one person are drawn to something else, indicating an aversion or rupture in the relationship. Open for interpretation, we don´t know if its the dynamic between two lovers, friends or between a parent and a child.
