In her artistic practice Verena Buttmann challenges language and narrativ methods, while questioning their social function and communicative aspects. She pushes words to the fringes of music, until they seem to become elements of sound. Her performances and videos have been part of “Labour in a Single Shot”, a project by Antje Ehmann and Harun Farocki in cooperation with the Goethe Institute, which was shown at HKW Berlin and 56. Venice Biennale, as well as Klosterruine Berlin and Kunst im Tunnel Düsseldorf.
